Sonderbotschaft in Sachen Rockabilly

Hallo Freunde der Rockin’ Lafayettes,

nachdem Ihr die Band mögt, gefällt Euch vielleicht Rockabilly generell? Auch rund um die Uhr?

Es gab ja das Rockabilly Internet-Radio “Rockabilly Radio” aus USA (http://www.rockabillyradio.net/). Das schweigt seit Monaten, weil der Macher Don Freeman gesundheitlich voll in der Scheiße steckt. Der englische Haupt-DJ Dave Brighton bemüht sich um eine Ersatzlösung, aber das kann noch etwas dauern.

Mittlerweile hat ein deutscher DJ von besagtem “Rockabilly Radio” eine eigene Station aufgemacht. DJ Steiger aus Essen hat einen sehr guten Geschmack, seine Shows waren immer vom Feinsten und allseits beliebt. Er will Rockabilly am Leben erhalten mit “Big Daddy O Radio” unter http://www.big-daddy-o-radio.com/ . Derzeit läuft eine halbstündige Probesendung, der reguläre Sendebetrieb startet am 01.03.2011.

Hört mal rein, wenn Ihr Spaß haben wollt. Besondere Browser-Einstellungen sind wohl nicht nötig: bei mir dudelt es gleich los, wenn ich auf die Hauptseite gehe. Hinweis: Eure PC-Lautsprecher sollten eingeschaltet sein!

Die 4 Traumtänzer von „Twang Bar Dudes” blasen zum Angriff auf die Top 40s 2010.
Gerade eben zurück von ihrer Tournee durch die Zentralmongolei, wo sie beim Rockevent in Ulan Bator das träge Reitervolk zum orgiastischen Yak-Schnaps-Trinken animierten, werden sie nun das o27 mit ihren neurotischen Weisen mental zertrümmern. Faule Eier liegen an der Theke bereit.

Wissenschaftl. Untersuchung von Internet Communities hups

Social Networks sind in aller Munde. Hier meine Erfahrungen:

XING:

Die Business-Plattform war meine erste Entdeckung auf besagtem Gebiet. 3 Jahre lang war ich zahlendes Mitglied und begeistert aktiv. Wirtschaftlich brachte mir XING aber nix, alle Kontakte nur heiße Luft (bis auf seltene private Ausnahmen). Ein wichtiges Thema in der (großen) Regionalgruppe “NürnbergBC”: “Wann treffen wir uns zum nächsten Schafkopf-Turnier?” Meine Premium-Mitgliedschaft ist gekündigt, als kostenloses Basis-Mitglied nutze ich XING inzwischen nur noch sporadisch.

Seit einiger Zeit bin ich Mitglied wegen den Rockin’ Lafayettes. Der Spaßfaktor war enorm. Seit der Entdeckung von Facebook ist MySpace bei mir stark in den Hintergrund getreten, aber immer noch wichtig, um bei möglichen Konzertbesuchen von mir unbekannten Bands vorab eine akustische Prüfung vorzunehmen.

Hier findet man/frau eine Zusammenfassung aller Communities: vertreten sind Geschäftsleute, Musiker/innen und Bands, Bekannte aller Art, Schulfreunde/innen, Kollegen/innen, Firmen usw., jede/r kann sich seine/ihre Nische aussuchen. Für meine Interessen (hauptsächlich musikalisch) ist ein breites Spektrum an Werkzeugen geboten.

All phones using the Java version of VirtualRadio can receive non-Wi-fi/3G categories containing low-bandwidth radio streams only!

Low-bandwidth streams can be received with regular operator networks

(Subject to connectivity availability)
Wi-fi/3G categories containing high-bandwidth radio streams can only be heard with the Symbian version for smartphones with the Symbian operating system. For a good reception, you should use a 3G-operator network or WLAN!

Please make certain that you have unlimited data streaming.

In VirtualRadio options select “Catagories” / Rock / Rockabilly Radio

In their search bar type “Rockabilly”, this will bring up a listing with Rockabilly Radio at the top. Click on the (i) at the end of the line. Then on the Speaker Icon to listen to one of the 128 Streams.

Please Post this message out on Myspace, Facebook and to your e-mail recipients. The 128 stream isn’t available from the Listen Now option on the Station’s Website, so people need advising how to hear it.

The 64 & 32 Streams work OK from the website.

Hi Ralph,

You may have noticed a few different tracks being played recently, I’ve been uploading some to Don to give a greater variety of choice for people selecting from the Requests folder and responding to some UK listener suggestions.

The Stats seem to have levelled out to around the 200 mark on average depending on global daylight hours.

At present we have 180 as I write this, mainly from Europe as the USA is still waking up at this time.

It’s interesting that at least 50% of all listeners are covered from Europe and noticeable after Midnight as the stats fall while this continent sleeps, how low they become whist the USA and rest of the world are in their afternoon and evening daylight hours, you would have thought the stats would level out as the balance of US listeners would theoretically increase, however this doesn’t seem to be happening, the stats fall as low as 60 at time, and that for such a large continent and population may be cause for some concern.

There are also some new RnR Stations starting up which may begin to compete with us and capture some of our existing European Listeners.

Another interesting aspect to the Stats over the past 18 months is that Germany has been showing the greatest amount of listeners only equalled in the past 9 months By Sweden with the UK being consistently in 4th place. There’s an increasing number showing in the Unknown Section, the USA is usually showing the Highest Stats during our Afternoon and evening hours whist America Joins in.

One Reason that Germany and Sweden may have high Stats may be the result of DJ Spy Joining the Station although the trend was going that way beforehand, probably due to your input and creating an awareness amongst your friends and associates.

What I believe Don is Faced with now is probably financial as costs for licensing and Service provision increase at approximately a minimum base figure of $200 Monthly which he has been subsidising out of his own personal finances although some of it is being helped by Donations and Sponsorship.

In these Cut throat times of global recession it’s becoming more difficult to find people like yourself that contribute a large percentage to Rockabilly Radio. So your Assistance is greatly appreciated and this mail is not asking you to make any change to what you already contribute.

What Don and I would prefer is to encourage others to make some donations or offer sponsorship whist seeking their suggestions for improvements that may increase our listener and financial position that doesn’t compromise what Don set out to achieve when he had the concept of providing a resource for Current Rockin’ Bands to have their material played and promoted.

One facility that this station has that others do not is a request option to have the listeners tracks of choice played within in hour or sooner dependant on the demand.

Another aspect of this Station is the diferent DJ’s we have that provide their shows in their distictive presentation and specialist content that other stations would probably not take on board, Do does not put imposed restrictions on them, this leaves those individuals to express and select their choice of material to our target listeners whist bringing on board aditition listeners that they invite to listen in.

Any Station realisticaly has to promote it’s way by making it’s target audience aware and any presenter cannot be greater than the station that provides a platform for them, though can set out to gain listeners for their own shows and the station in general, the process therefore is of mutual interest and benefit of promotion.

The current DJ’s are providing exelent programs and to that end is an assett to the station and for the listeners.
